- Frisco RoughRiders Stadium
The Frisco RoughRiders (short form: ‘Riders) are currently the Class AA affiliate of the Texas Rangers major league baseball club. The team plays in the Texas League, assigned to the South Division. Prior to 2003, the franchise was based in Shreveport, Louisiana, and were known as the Shreveport Captains (and, for the 2002 season, the Shreveport SwampDragons). In 2003, they were purchased by Mandalay Entertainment in connection with Tom Hicks, owner of the Texas Rangers and the company that owns it, Southwest Sports Group. Mandalay Baseball moved them to the Dallas suburb of Frisco and changed their name to the RoughRiders.
They currently play at the Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. Opened on April 3, 2003, the stadium seats 10,600 fans. The stadium is both unique and innovative; both bullpens are surrounded by seats and there is a pool area available for rental just beyond the right center field wall.

They are based in the Dallas suburb of Irving, Texas. The team currently plays its home games at Texas Stadium in Irving, but it is scheduled to move to a new stadium in nearby Arlington in 2009. The Cowboys joined the NFL as a 1960 expansion team. The team’s national following might best be represented by its NFL record of consecutive games in front of sold-out stadiums. The Cowboys’ streak of 160 sold-out regular and post-season games began in 1990, and included 79 straight sellouts at their home, Texas Stadium, and 81 straight sell-outs on the road.

The 18-hole “Eldorado” course at the Eldorado Country Club facility in McKinney, Texas features 6,770 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 73.2 and it has a slope rating of 135. Designed by Gary Roger Baird, ASGCA, the Eldorado golf course opened in 1981. Century Golf Partners / Arnold Palmer Golf Management manages this facility.

If you want to unwind and take in the surrounding nature, McKinney Parks and Recreation is the plact to visit. Stop over at the Towne Lake recreation area, which has a beautiful lake with lots of great trails, playgrounds and picnic areas. They even have paddle boats! McKinney Community Center boasts basketball courts, racqetball courts, a weight and fitness club, meeting rooms and kitchen facilites, available all week long. Overnight camping is also available at Erwin Park and includes a mountain bike trail. Old Settler’s Recreation Center which also includes basketball courts, meeting rooms, a covered sport pavilion and gymnasium.

Over the past few decades, historic preservation has grown in the United States as people have realized the value of historic structures contributing to the overall history of the community, both economically and architecturally. One of the ways that the City of McKinney has accomplished the feat of maintaining its architectural and cultural heritage is by adopting a Historic Preservation Ordinance. The ordinance created a Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB) and the staff position of Historic Preservation Officer (HPO). The Historic Preservation Advisory Board consists of 7 members appointed by City Council and a Historic Preservation Officer appointed by the City Manager.
